11 sites shut down by MCMC

KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 11 websites, including those created by bloggers, have been shut down by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) this year for contravening rules and regulations concerning the publication of information on the Internet.

Energy, Water and Communications Deputy Minister Datuk Shaziman Abu Mansor said two cases have also been brought to the Attorney-General’s Chambers for action.

He added the Government could take action under Section 211 and 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 against owners, operators or writers of websites who misused the Internet to spread slanderous comments, insulting the country’s leaders, religious sensitivities and race.

Those who broke the law could be slapped with a RM50,000 fine, one year’s jail or both, he said.

Sharper than a blade

October 22, 2007

Soft you may be

Boneless yet hard as steel

Pen is mightier than sword

Tongue is mightier than any

Mean not you may be

A cut will hurt like any

Pull the nails out

The holes are more than many

Even if its not meant to be

Sorry you may say

For some words are not meant to stay

Yet the pain does not stray

Its too deep in to stay

My handphone is dead

October 18, 2007

Its a long story. I’ve always wanted to get a new hand phone, and a good one that is. And finally after so long, I’ve managed to collect enough finances to do so. Then it came to the “Nokia or SonyEricsson” debacle. And that took me quite long time to come with a decision. Nokia offers a smartphone, which can do a lot more that any other normal hand phones. There are many 3rd party applications that can be installed on its Symbian platform which makes it really practical and a lot of fun. But the only setback is Symbian OS’s are known for its instability. Hangs and virus attacks are a common issue. SonyEricson on the other hand is a product that is really moving ahead. I remember Sony used to come up with its fugly designs. Same as the crappy designs by Ericson. But when the two companies merged up to make handphones, it was like magic. Ericsson with its stable network hardwares and Sony with their innovative ideas and cool designs.

(Finally)I’ve narrowed down my list to Nokia N73 and SonyEricsson K810i. Both around the same price range, one is better on this aspect, the the other was better on another acpect. In the end, with Laj to company me, we went the hand phone retail shop and I got the SonyEricsson, after deciding that no matter how good the funtions are, hand phones are useless if it keeps on hanging (wooo!). It was a moment of joy (and relief) for me. Finally I have my new phone.

But that joy was temporary. Few hours after that, my brand new K810i starts to hang everytime I open a file from the memory card. At 1st I thought it was something minor, but it happened more and more regularly and its starts to irritate. So a few days after that I went back to the shop to get it fixed. It seems that me M2 card was corrupted and i got a new replacement card. After that, the problem seems to be solved. Yet it was too early to breath happily…

Then it happened, I was heading for break-fast with Laj, when my phone suddenly restart while I’m sms-ing Kamy. And after that it just wouldnt start. Tried and tried over and over again but it just seems dead. I was flabbergasted. I mean, i spent over a thousand dollars on that thing and in less that a week, its dead! Went to the shop again later that night, and they claim that the software was out, and that they need about 1 hour to fix it. Fine, get over with it, I even had to pay rm15 for it. And after all that, on the way back,it happened again. The phone went dead. I was really pissed and went the next day to the warranty center in KL. Found out that it had some hardware issues and it takes somewhere around a week to get it fixed.

So here I am, without my brand new phone…

Berbuka

October 10, 2007

Yes, I DID !

Oh yes I did. It started with a chat session with a friend. After checking out a few blogs the price was confirmed at RM15.90, cheaper than most Ramadhan buffet’s around town. So after some texting and some more texting, we decided to hit there the next day. It was lucky that we read some bloggers reviews before heading there. The queue was bad. By 6.15pm, with almost an hour before break-fasting time, the queue started to lengthen. And by the time we were there, we were so disappointed to find the menu that day was nasi putih, asam pedas keladi, kari kambing, ayam masak something, cencalok, sambal belacan, keropok ikan and what not. I mean, heck! There we are in Ikea and we are being served Malaysian food. It was such a burst of a bubble. There I was, spending the whole day imagining their Swedish Meatballs, Poached Salmons and the famous Daim Cake, holding a plate of nasi and chicken and keropok ikan.

But luckily the food was not bad. Somehow what saved the day was the humongous tiger prawns masak sambal. Of course there was some tradition malay kuih’s such as Bingka Ubi, Kuih Badak, and Kuih Lapis. I’m not much of a kuih person except for karipap’s. Since they didn’t had them, I can’t say much.

Told you the prawns were huge

Hehe

 Daun pegaga, kerabu mangga

hmm...

Kari kambing, asam pedas daun keladi

And the mouth watering kuih’s

Ok, final verdict : Food was ok, the prawns was worth every cent. But I’m still fantasizing about the Swedish Meatballs :p
